In June of this year we hosted a benefit for Ian McDiad and his family. Ian McDaid, a self-employed carpenter, was finishing up a volunteer renovation at the Vernon American Legion when he fell from a ladder and broke both lower nones of his left leg into 6 pieces. He was in need of several surgeries to repair the breaks. Ian worked tirelessly volunteering at organizations like Operation Elf for the military, Somers Fire Dept. The George N. Ryan memorial scholarship fund, Fidelco Guide Dogs, Chili for Life, Patriot Guard Riders, Food Share, Kids Camp, MS Society, Cancer Society, K9 Rescue and many more. Ian had a long road of recovery ahead of him and our community came together to support the McDiad family to raise money for the family while Ian was out of work. The Aid the McDiad benefit had a great turn out, the weather was spectacular, the band was awesome. But most of all we are thankful for the hundreds of people in our community who generously gave of their time, money, talents and gifts to bless the McDaids!
